  • Hansa TESL Canada Course


  • 5 Weeks: 120 hours
       

    This course meets TESL Canada requirements and also serves International Professionals. It covers all the principles and practice of TESL, emphasizing the communicative approach to language teaching. It provides the trainees with a solid foundation on which to build a dynamic ESL teaching career.


    • What Can You Expect to Learn
    This activity-based program is designed to be hands-on, with a focus on the communicative approach. You will be encouraged to draw and build upon your own experiences, as well as the experiences and knowledge of your peers.

    • The program offers a wide range of topics including:
    CURRENT & HISTORICAL TRENDS

    Past methodologies and current approaches to learning and teaching English

    LANGUAGE AWARENESS

    History of English; linguistic theory and how to teach grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing

    PROFESSIONAL SELF-DEVELOPMENT

    Professional development; classroom teaching and observation practices and underlying principles

    ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION

    Effective questioning and elicitation; student testing and evaluation; and error correction

    CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

    Classroom management; lesson planning; computer-assisted language learning; observation and teaching practice

    RESOURCE MATERIAL

    Surveying and accessing resources, i.e.: textbooks, web pages, libraries, etc. How to conduct an effective job-search

     

     



    Graduates of each of these two courses will be awarded an internationally recognized Hansa TESL Certificate.
