Spanish is like music to the ears... Who wouldn't want to sing along with mariachis? With almost 500 million speakers, Spanish is the third most widely spoken language in the world. If you want to travel, do business, study or experience the beautiful cultures of Spain and Latin America, Spanish is a must. Did you know that the USA has the fifth largest number of Spanish speakers in the world?

Please note that there is a $50 registration fee for all Spanish programs at Hansa Language Centre. Books and materials are included in the registration fee. All lessons are held at Hansa's 2160 Yonge Street campus. For private classes held off campus, within Toronto, an additional 20% surcharge will be added to the course fee.

Spanish Starting Dates

These eight week programs are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. All three levels use the book “Pensar y aprender” (Editorial Los Mayas) as the primary resource. Curriculum is designed for Latin American Spanish. However teachers differentiate between the Spanish used in Spain and the Spanish used in Latin American countries. A minimum of three students is needed for the group course to run. Payment and registration must be received before the registration deadline.

Spanish Level 1 - $325

The Level 1 Spanish course at Hansa covers the first half of “Pensar y aprender”. Students are introduced to the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation. Telling time, greetings, numbers, days of the week, the months, seasons, as well as other day-to-day vocabulary (such as food, clothing, & weather) are covered in the vocabulary section of this course. Content will include an introduction to nouns, articles, adjectives, and regular verbs beginning with "ser" and "estar".

Spanish Level 2 - $325

This course reviews the second half of the “pensar y aprender” course book. At this stage students will learn to use the most common irregular verbs that will allow them to ask for information, talk about obligations and habits, their likes and dislikes, buy items at a store, order food in a restaurant, make hotel reservations and make small talk. This program is ideal for anyone traveling to any Spanish speaking country. Content includes more regular verbs, an introduction to irregular verbs, reflexive verbs, and pronouns.
